Trading Gore and Manning? - Originally received on 08/20/07
Question from: Jason

Question - There has been a proposal made to me that is intriguing!

     I get:
Rd 1: Pick 1 (I intend to draft Adrian Peterson with it)
     Matt Hasselbeck
Thomas Jones (I want to counter offer for Edgerrin James as I don't feel it's fair with Jones)

     I give them:
     Peyton Manning
     Frank Gore
Rd 14: Pick 8 (they didn't ask for this, but I think the trade needs to be 3 for 3).

I also have 2 other 1st rd picks at #4 and #8. If I did this trade I would have #1, #4, and #8.....plus 2 2nd rd picks. I intend to get either Marshawn Lynch or Brandon Jackson with one of my other 1st rd picks.

Would you make tis trade? Giving up Peyton is really tough for me, but I would really like to get Peterson.......so I am wondering if it's worth it. My other QB is Philip Rivers. My other RB's are Warrick Dunn and Dominic Rhodes.

We keep 12 players, so the pickings are slim for RB.

Answer - I wouldn't do that trade. Gore and Manning are tops at their positions and the players you are getting in return will get you less fantasy performance in the end I believe.

Even with Edgerrin (which I think will have a much better season this year) I would pass on it.
