I Am In Need Of An SP?
Question from: Bryan - Originally received on 06/20/07

Question - I'm in a keeper league where you keep 3 players. I currently have Beltran, Vlad and Ordonez in my outfield and Morneau at first base. I also have Berkman who can fill 1B or OF but not any room for him. I am in need of an SP as I have Zambrano and Beckett and mediocre other SP's. I was offered Oswalt and Joe Nathan for Berkman and Chad Cordero. I'm thinking this is a solid deal but Berkman could explode at anytime now. Do you have any thoughts or advice here?

Answer - The choice is easier since you are in dire need of pitching. And you also said that you did not have any roster space for Berkman. I also have Berkman in a few leagues and is mostly a fill in for days my other starters don't play. I do not think he will attain the same numbers as last year. You don't need him for a keeper more than likely.

With that being said I would consider doing this trade. The key is you said you have no room for Berkman, so I assume you have another 1B or OF player. What I would consider doing before taking this trade is see if you can get another pitcher in the deal for Berkman, someone in the middle of the pack so to speak. Or wait until Berkman does heat up a bit, then trade him when his value is a little higher.
