AP, LT or Brady? - Originally replied to on 12/29/07
Question from: Mike
Question - I am a newbie with keeper leagues and the commish in our league has decided to convert our current (now ending) fantasy football league into a keeper league starting next season. We will be able to keep just one player from our current team. I had a pretty darn good team and I need help in deciding who to keep for next year. Please help!! Do I keep LaDainian Tomlinson, Adrian Petersen (MIN) or Tom Brady??
Thanks for your help.

Answer - This has been a main question in keeper leagues this year. I would typically keep an RB. The only thing that would keep me from doing that is Tom Brady. His numbers are off the chart and is averaging 40 points a week in our keeper league format. Without knowing all the details of your league I would keep Brady unless you have the first overall pick or a pick where you know you could redraft Brady with your first pick.
Here is my reasoning. AP is a great RB and will have great seasons to come. "But", he did get hurt this season and has been shut down in some games. He is just a rookie and is unproven, even with a great rookie season and an injury. He could also suffer the dreaded sophomore slump.
LT, I would keep if I didn't have Brady. My main thinking on keeping Brady is if you drop him some other team with a possible great RB will definitely draft him. I would keep Brady and then draft the best RB you can. I think that combo will help you better. Brady and then drafting an RB over LT or AP and then drafting a QB. Brady should continue to shine over RBs that are continually getting hurt. Great QBs will last longer than great RBs career length wise generally speaking.
