Two Vacant Teams? - Originally replied to on 09/13/07
Question from: Kent
Question - I'm the commissioner of a 10 team keeper league and I just had 2 teams fold in my league. Can you guys recommend what I do with the 2 vacant teams? Is it better to find owners to just take over the teams, or is it better to dilute the teams and have the new owners engage in a suplimental draft to fill out the protected players?

Answer - The simplest solution would be If the two teams that dropped out were active and the team rosters are fairly competitive. New owners could then take over those teams and then protect players according to your league rules.
Holding a supplemental draft is more complicated and time consuming. Holding this kind of draft may hurt teams that were active and may be deemed a bit unfair by league members. If the league members are ok with that the original teams can then protect a few players and you can hold your draft. The key part is how many players to protect while giving the new teams a chance to draft decent players while not hurting current teams to much.
I do think both options are fair if both situations are like what I said above. I would consult your whole league and see what the general opinion is and then go from there.
