Marc Bulger Or Calvin Johnson? - Originally received on 08/01/07
Question from: Big Dawg

Question - I am in a keeper league 2nd season (14 teams) and I have the first pick. I need a quality quarterback and wide receiver. My question is that all of the top QB's are gone ( I played with Rex last season..enough said!!) and I think if I do not pick up a QB 1st I will have a choice of Chad Pennington, Steve McNair, Jeff Garcia, Tony Romo, or Eli Manning as my #1 QB. Is it worth giving up Calvin Johnson or Lynch or Peterson for Bulger or Rivers? I will have to bid on the rookies next year and based on my payroll, I might lose him next year. I have the rights to S. Aexander and I am bidding on TJ Housh. Should I sign Housh and/or S. Alexander to just one year deals and revisit resigning all next year. If I get Housh and resign Shawn Alexander I will have a very solid team IF IF IF I find a QB. I need some advice

Answer - You asked if giving up those "three" rookies listed below for Bulger or Rivers is worth it. I would have to say yes if those are your only 2 choices and the other QBs you mentioned. It will do you no good if you draft 1 of those rookies and have no QB to compete this year and possibly not be able to even keep the rookie you drafted. Like you mentioned below.

Other scenarios to watch for are you could draft J. Russell, then draft Culpepper down the line. You could draft CJ, Lynch or Peterson. Then draft E. Manning which I have Manning ranked only 2 slots behind Rivers.

I can't really comment on if you should keep TJ and Alexander since I do not know who else is on your team. But, I would sign Alexander.
