Maurice Jones-Drew or Michael Turner?
Question from: Kenny

Question - Who has the most value as a keeper league RB and the best chance of producing in 2007, Maurice Jones-Drew or Michael Turner? Obviously, the value of both depends on the off-season. Jones-Drew's value would sky-rocket if Taylor were to retire or get traded. Turner's value is dependent on his being traded to another team, as well as the offensive line strength of that team (as we saw with Edge in 2006).

     Thanks! Kenny.

Answer - I would keep Maurice Jones-Drew over Turner. Drew is producing while turner hasn't been traded yet. If he gets traded before your deadline, please write back and we can re-evaluate

Answer - I think in this situation, you have to go with what's proven over what might be. That would be Jones-Drew. Even with Fred Taylor starting in Jacksonville, Jones-Drew has rushed for 15 TD's and put up some pretty decent yardage numbers. Like I said, that was WITH Taylor starting, and also being a rookie.

Turner on the other hand, were he to be traded, might put up some decent numbers. But there have been backs before that lurked in the shadows of the starter for their team, were traded, and came up big. Priest Holmes from Baltimore to K.C. is one that comes to mind. Chester Taylor performed alright this season.

But when you have a kid like Jones-Drew, (who was essentially a waiver wire pickup for most fantasy teams this season), perform like he does, I'd say keep a spot on your roster for him, and either trade Turner or hope he's on the board come draft day next year.

Answer - Without a doubt, Maurice Jones-Drew is the better bet. While a lot of people are high on Michael Turner, I don't think he can ever be more than a change-of-pace or third-down back in the NFL. Yes, he has great yards-per-carry, but you have to remember a lot comes when L.T. has either worn down the defense, or put the game out of reach.

As for MJD, he is a terrific catcher out of the backfield and a big-play threat every time he gets his hands on the ball.
