We Have 5 Keeper Slots?
Question from: Kenneth
Question - I am in a 14 person keeper league with some real intense friends. We have 5 keeper slots, standard scoring (Runs, HR, RBI, SB, and BA for batters and Wins, Saves, K's, ERA and WHIP for Pitchers), and for positions we have C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, Util, 4 SP slots, 3 RP slots, and 2 P slots.
With more pitching slots than usual I am unsure of who to keep. My team looks like this:
Victor Martinez
Adam Dunn
Todd Walker
Alex Rodriguez
Derek Jeter
Coco Crisp
Willy Mo Pena
David Delluci
Barry Bonds
Geoff Jenkins
Jim Edmonds
Adrian Beltre
David Dejesus
Rickie Weeks
Felix Hernandez
John Smoltz
Tim Wakefield
Chris Young
Bob Wickman
Jonathan Papelbon
Todd Coffey
Bronson Arroyo
Rodrigo Lopez
Dan Haren
Mike Gonzalez
Right now I was thinking of keeping ARod, Jeter, King Felix, Smoltz, and I am clueless about the fifth. Arroyo, Haren, Young, and Papelbon seem to have no way to differentiate between them and I can't figure out if Dunn is worth keeping. Any insight or suggestions you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time!

Answer - You have a real decent roster there. I would keep 3 Batters and 2 Pitchers: Victor Martinez, Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Felix Hernandez and Chris Young.
Edmonds is ok, but not worth keeping at this point. And the other bats are not worth keeping either with so few slots to fill.
Now the 2 pitchers I would keeper are Young and Felix, both will produce for seasons. Arroyo could be swapped for Young, but I'm a little cautious of Arroyo. Don't even consider closers for keepers unless points are in use that are off the chart.
You still need more pitchers, but that's ok as there should be a few more out there even though your league is 14 teams. There are alot of rookies pitchers that will make there marks this season. Hughes, Bailey, Miller, Miller, ect ect. Check out our full rookie rankings at our main site for more.
