Alex Rios or Delmon Young?
Question from: Sean
Question - Who would you draft for in a keeper league (mixed Yahoo 5x5) and is it this close I'm leaning towards Rios because of character and maturity and the 1st half of last season shows he might be ready to blossom. Delmon Young 4 years younger is a stud too. It's my pick and your help would be appreciated
Thanks, Sean.

Answer - Your assessments are pretty arcurate.
The safe bet would be to draft Rios as you said Young has had some character issues. And Rios has proven to be a solid #2 fantasy player. But, if your willing to take a chance Young would be the way to go. He could get over 25-30 HRs if he plays all season and is healthy. If not more.
If you already have some decent OFs. I personally would draft Young. But, also keep in mind how your draft is going. Sometimes its better to wait on players if you know they will last a couple rounds. Either way for both players.
Good Luck and Let me know how it goes.

Answer - I would pick Rios for sure, lots of talent there. Delmon Young....take a pass on him. Rios is the better choice.........good luck.

Answer - Which I pick would depend on what my team was looking like at that point... If my current team was good (either objectively or else compared to other teams) but needing an extra piece or two to compete for title, I draft Rios for immediate impact... if my team is already stacked and am looking for depth or growth, I draft Delmon Young. If my team is really young and am building for future, or really old and was looking to rebuild, I draft Delmon Young.
Me personally, in most cases in a keeper league, I gamble on Delmon Young being a special player unless I had a specific reason for playing it safe, which there are several valid reasons for, but such details were not provided. But either one you pick, it is a good gamble and they are very good keeper prospects for young players so if you decide to go with Rios, it is still a solid pick up which could end up being the better play. Good luck, and I hope you are lucky enough to end up getting both players if there is room. Thank you for your interest.
