Fantasy Trade: Hanley Ramirez For Felix Hernandez?
Question from: Jordan - I've got a plus-plus keeper lineup going into our draft. In a 20 team 5x5 keeper league, I've managed to assemble a lineup of Al Pujols, Jose Reyes, Carl Crawford, Hanley Ramirez, Aramis Ramirez, and Aaron Harang. I'm obviously very happy, but always looking to improve.
I've got two SS in Reyes and HanRam (and a TON of SB when Crawford is thrown in)... and while I'm totally comfortable entering the draft with Hanley committed to my Util slot, I'd like to diversify is possible without selling low. I targeted Joe Mauer for roughly a 1:1 swap, but his owner is a little leery of Hanley until he has another year under his belt.
Here's my question to you. Eventually, I'd love to upgrade 3B, pick up Utley or Mauer, and get a top-level SP. Since I'm looking in the long-term (3-7 years), one SP who stands out to me is Felix Hernandez. I am very high on Felix (and biased as a Seattle fan), and think he'd be a great talent to add toward my 'ideal' roster. Felix's current owner is similarly high on him, however, and I have not been able to make headway in the past. However, if he were interested... would Hanley for Felix in a 1:1 be such an overpay that I shouldn't even consider it? Or am I justified in thinking the price might be right for such a huge young stud, especially when I do have a logjam at SS?
